Why is that, you ask? Because of all the professional people I've known in my life, I don't believe anyone is more generous than writers.
This week, I have the amazing opportunity to work with a multi-published, NYT and USA Today bestselling author of more than 70 books. She has offered to coach me on creating a career plan for myself as a published author.
My husband, who is a businessman in the medical field, looked at me like I was crazy when I told him about this opportunity. Why would she do this, he asked? Why isn't she charging you? What's the gimmick?
Even though he lives with a writer, he's not involved in the writing world to know that writers support each other more than I could ever have imagined. Whether you need to run an idea by someone else, or you need an honest critique of your work, or need a hug when you've received a rejection, a fellow writer is always there.
And if the world had more writers, wouldn't it be a better place?
