I'm trying to capture a feeling. The bench has to "speak" to me, and I usually attempt 3-6 photos trying to get that feeling in digital.
I must have 100 bench photos.
Writing is exactly like that. You try one word, then another, and another, trying to recreate what you "see" in your mind.
You use different phrases, different sentences.
You try different characters.
You put pieces together and take them apart over and over until your "feeling" gels into a novel.
You don't give up until it's as near-perfect as you can accept.
And then you begin again with a new novel, a new concept. You keep on trying. You never stop.
